National Arts in Education Week is a national celebration recognizing the transformative power of the arts in education. Designated by Congress in 2010, the celebration is meant to bring attention to this cause for elected officials and educational decision-makers nationwide and to support equitable access to the arts for all students.
Arts education, comprising a rich array of disciplines including dance, music, theatre, media arts, literature, design, and visual arts, is a core academic subject and an essential element of a complete and balanced education for all students.

GSCS has continued to monitor the weather and has been participating, throughout the day, in briefings and updates with the Spalding County Emergency Management Agency and National Weather Service. At this time, we do not anticipate any local severe weather related to Hurricane Idalia. The forecasts do expect light rain or drizzle to continue throughout off and on throughout much of the evening. No operational changes are expected. All GSCS events (sports, etc.) will proceed as scheduled. We will continue to monitor the weather and update you if this changes. Thank you

Please see the flyers regarding Kennedy Road softball and football. They have been attached in an email. The football game has been moved to Memorial Stadium and it starts at 6:30pm. Softball has been rescheduled due to the heat advisory this week.
Middle School Athletics Changes Due to Heat: GSCS is expecting severe heat Tuesday-Thursday this week that is expected to exceed the WBGT allowed by our district regulations for outdoor extracurricular activities. Per our regulation, additional precautions start with a measure WBGT of 82. With a WBGT higher than 87, football players are restricted from wearing full pads, and over 92 no outdoor workouts can take place.
To combat these anticipated high temperatures, the following schedule adjustments have been made:
The annual GSCS Middle School football jamboree will be hosted by Rehoboth Road Middle School at Griffin's Memorial Stadium (310 E. Poplar Street, Griffin GA) on Saturday, August 19.
Tickets and concessions are cash-only.
GSCS operates under a "clear bag" policy for all athletic events and spectators may be subject to a security screening.
Griffin-Spalding Partners In Education is holding its 22nd Annual Partners In Education Golf Tournament on Friday, September 29, at the Griffin City Park Golf Course. All proceeds benefit the students and teachers of GSCS by providing field trip/classroom grants and teacher scholarships. Please consider sponsoring/participating. We would love your support!
